Knock Down Ceilings

California celling texture, also called knock-down ceiling texture, helps to break up the flatness of most ceilings without adding peaks of popcorn texture, commonly used in new homes throughout the country. When sprayed into place, texture appears as a random series of irregularly shaped hills with the tops cut off. The application process typically consists a couple of parts. First, spraying the texture material with special machinery specific to the job, combined with texture mix and second, knocking down the material peaks. After completion, though, no paintings is required, and the texture will cover any flaws that may be present in the current ceiling covering.

Defenition of Knockdown Texture

Knockdown texture is a type of wall texture that falls between a flat wall and an orange peel wall. It provides walls with an interesting, mottled texture that helps to make it more appealing than a generic flat wall. In order to apply knockdown to a wall, we must add water to a joint compound and apply it using a trowel. As the compound dries, it will leave stalactites and the contractor will then use the trowel again to leave an aesthetically pleasing finish.
